SAME Southern Nevada Post helped renovate a run-down Las Vegas motel into short-term housing for veterans. Within the last 15 months, the Post volunteered to transform the building by replacing carpet, light fixtures, drapes and furniture. The Post also helped repair and repaint the interior and exterior of the building.
The housing is named Veterans Village Las Vegas (VVLV) and is located at 1150 Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas. Aside from providing shelter, the facility also aids veterans by providing assistance with meals, job placement and basic health check ups. VVLV also organizes social events allowing veterans to meet with each other and discuss various topics including job leads and training. This fall, VVLV hopes to build a new garden and social gathering space where veterans can congregate and work in the garden.
