Originally organized as the Fort Belvoir Post on Nov. 19, 1948 as SAME’s 43rd local post, the Post received its charter on Dec. 10, 1948 (which the Post still owns and passes from President to President). The Post changed its name to Northern Virginia on Aug. 3, 2000.
The Distinguished Speaker for the anniversary celebration was Lt. Gen. Henry J. “Hank” Hatch, 47th Chief of Engineers and Commander, USACE, and a 50-year member of NoVA Post. He gave a very interesting and informative presentation on “Engineering a Sustainable Future.”The Post recognized its 50-year members, Life members, Fellows, Past Post Presidents, and Past Society Presidents and Executive Director. NoVA Post is proud to celebrate this milestone, accomplished only through the dedication of members and supporters.
