Building DC’s Metro: From the TME Archives

As the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority prepares to unveil the new Silver Line on Saturday, July 26, take a look back 40 years to the September-October 1974 issue of The Military Engineer for a detailed “Progress Report” on construction of the then-planned 98-mile Metro system.
“Washington’s Metro: A Progress Report” was authored by Brig. Gen. Roy T. Dodge, USA (Ret.), an SAME Fellow, who was Chief of Design & Construction for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and responsible for all contracting and construction activities with building the Metro.
