The SAME Weekly Digest is a brief compendium of the goings on at SAME headquarters during the past week. The digest is posted each Friday and provides a concise debriefing on the happenings of the week that was. To read past editions of the Weekly Digest, click here.

  • Registration is now open for the final SAME Continuing Education Program event of 2011! To be held Oct. 12-14 in Seattle, Wash., the year’s last CEP offers a combination of one-, two- and three-day courses on topics including sustainable facilities, design-build project delivery and best value source selection, all with a focus on working with and for the Department of Defense. (Please visit the event website for a complete listing of courses.) The CEP-Seattle will also feature a one-time-only, one-day seminar on building information modeling for DOD projects. Remember, attendees of all CEP courses are eligible to receive Professional Development Hours for earning or maintaining certifications.   • A large batch of photos from last week’s SAME Executive Forum are now available on the SAME Flickr page. As always, if you’re looking for specific photos from an event, and you don’t see them on our Flickr page, contact Jack Nank, SAME Editor, with a description of what you’re looking for, and we’ll see what we can dig up. The 2011 Executive Forum, held in Chicago, Ill., will be recapped in detail in the forthcoming September-October issue of The Military Engineer.   • Way back in June, the SAME San Diego and Orange County Posts hosted their annual Camp Pendleton Day, a daylong program of briefings, presentations and other activities held each summer to benefit local charities, this year to include Operation Homefront and the Camp Pendleton Armed Services YMCA. Dr. Bob Wolff, SAME Executive Director, was on site for the day’s events and, along with several other speakers and SAME leaders, gave interviews to internet radio host Don Hinderliter. The interviews are now available for to stream or download as a podcast. Be sure to check them out and congratulate the San Diego and Orange County Posts on another successful Camp Pendleton Day!
