2012JETC Opening Features Eric Greitens
The 2012 SAME Joint Engineer Training Conference & Expo (JETC) features an exciting program full of technical sessions, workshops, informational expo area, technical tours and social events. To be held May 22-25 at the America Center in St. Louis, Mo., the 2012 JETC is sure to have many highlights including the Opening Session with keynote speaker Eric Greitens.
Greitens is a Navy Seal and noted author of The Heart and the Fist: The Education of a Humanitarian, the Making of a Navy SEAL, which appeared on the New York Times Bestseller list for over 10 weeks. Greitens will deliver a speech addressing leadership, teamwork and the power of service in a humorous, yet powerful voice.
Greitens story is remarkable. As a Navy Seal, Greitens deployed four times: to Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa and Southeast Asia. He served as the Commander of a Joint Special Operations Task Unit, a Mark V Special Operations Craft Detachment, and an al Qaeda Targeting Cell. Upon returning from Iraq, Greitens donated his combat pay to found The Mission Continues, a non-profit organization that works with wounded and disabled veterans to build new lives as citizen leaders. Among his many accomplishments, Greitens is a golden gloves boxer, a sub-3 hour marathon runner, a White House Fellow, a Rhodes Scholar, and best-selling author of Strength and Compassion and The Heart and the Fist.
